This blog, by SEASCAT founder, Connie Jean Conklin, MEd, is intended to promote understanding of the purpose and mission of SEASCAT. SEASCAT, which stands for Supportive Environment for Adult Survivors of Child Abuse and Trauma, was the idea of Andy (anonymous at this time) a dissociative identity disorder. Andy was unable to follow through on the founding of the organization, but his former companion, Connie Jean Conklin, founded it in the state of North Caroline in March of 2008.
Following are our beliefs and mission statement, which have not changed from the beginning.
Our beliefs are children should always be loved and nurtured by the people who raise them. Children should always feel safe and secure in their environment. Children should grow into adults who feel safe in their world, in control of their life, and able to contribute to society in a meaningful way.
Our Mission Statement:"SEASCAT"; is a pending non-profit organization dedicated to creating, finding, and/or providing a supportive living environment for adult survivors of childhood abuse for the purpose of allowing them the safety and security they need to focus on recovery.
"Andy" pictured a place where people with dissociative disorders could come where they could receive all the support they needed to focus on recovery. But Connie has since recovered memories of her own abuse. Plus, an actual place for people to stay and with treatment, is out of reach at this time.
For now we seek to fulfill our mission through advocating, educating and providing peer support.
I will be repeating this often, but it is important for readers to know that we do not have a 501(C)3, or non-profit status. That takes lawyers and $ we don't have. This means that, while we love and appreciate donations, they are not tax deductible.

Again we have hopes of getting our 501(C)3 this May (2019). Say a prayer or cross your fingers, whichever you believe in- one of those should work.
